Learning English - Past Perfect Continuous Tense

This one is similar with the Present Perfect Continuous. Let's say, we use have and/or has to arrange sentences using the present perfect continuous, now if we would like to arrange sentences using this past perfect continuous form then the formula we have to addhere to is S + Had + Been + Verb Ing. It's different in the Had and Have/Has only compared to the present perfect continuous, isn't it ?. And talking in the meaning of, a difference that we could clearly see is that "the present perfect continuous is used to tell events that have already been done yet are being held at time we're making a discourse on. while the past perfect continuous is used to tell events that had elready been done in past and are no a connection is present with present day/time we may make the discourse.

Here are some formula that you have to memorize into the mind

1. Positif: S + Had + Been + Verb Ing

2. Negatif: S + Had + Not + Been + Verb Ing

3. Interrogative: Had + S + Been + Verb Ing

4. What, Where, Who, and some kind + Had + S + Been + Verb Ing

- i had been living there for 3 years "two years ago.
- you had been studying at smp 3 jakarta in 1990.
- they had been crying for its cake for two months around last year.
- he had been working for his lovely girl's keep that time.

2. Negatif: S + Had + Not + Been + Verb Ing

- i had not been living there for 3 years "two years ago.
- you had not been studying at smp 3 jakarta in 1990.
- they had not been crying for its cake for two months around last year.
- he had not been working for his lovely girl's keep that time.

3. Interrogative: Had + S + Been + Verb Ing

- had i been living there for 3 years "two years ago.

4. What, Where, Who, and some kind + Had + "S" + Been + Verb Ing

- where had i been living for 3 years "two years ago ?.

- what had they been crying for for two months around last year ?.
- how had he been working for his lovely girl's keep that time ?.

- Had is for use with all the subjek, i, you, we, they, he, she, and it.
